Honors assignment

It’s all in the details…

If you were in a fire, what would you save? If you could keep any childhood toy, what would you keep? If you lost your memory and could only remember one person, who would you want it to be? If you could return to anywhere you’ve been in your life, where would you go?

Our first paper will have you looking closely at the answer to one of these questions- describing a memorable person, place, or thing. What you choose should be meaningful to you for some reason. The person may be an inspiration, or could even be someone you dislike. The place could be your haven, your favorite vacation, a relative’s home. The item could be a childhood keepsake or your newest acquisition. The choices are endless… find something personal to you.

Using the varied sentence structures, sensory details, and figurative language we’ve been working on, you will be writing a 700 word descriptive paper. You will need to include 3 examples of similes, metaphors, or personification to aid in your description- so be creative! The feelings you have about why your choice is so memorable should come through in the specific words you use—make sure your paper doesn’t turn into a narrative!
