Freshman Regulars
Classroom Expectations- Freshman English
- Show respect for the classroom, students and me. This includes the use of appropriate language. Disrespect will result in the loss of daily points.
- All materials must be brought to class: pen, pencil, paper, text, reading book, homework.
- Students will be expected to be IN THEIR SEATS when the bell is done ringing. Every three tardies earn a referral per school policy.
- Work time is not a study hall for other classes. Students will lose daily points. If class runs smoothly and ON TASK, free time may be permitted at the end of the hour.
- THREE bathroom and/or locker passes will be given out per quarter.
- Grades are figured on a ten percent scale- 90=A 80=B 70=C and will be figured from the following criteria:
Daily points: Use of time. Students may earn 2 points a day by staying on task and being prepared.
Written work and projects: Academic papers – 500 words minimum. Other paper lengths as assigned.
Journals/Homework: Reading Logs and homework as assigned. Journals- one per week.
Pages of Reading: Reading a book of your choice- at home and during work time FIRST quarter only. This grade will be figured on the following scale:
450 pages- 100% 300 pages – 70%
400 pages- 90% 250 pages- 60%
350 pages – 80% 200 or less- F
Quizzes and tests- Unit tests as well as reading and roots quizzes.
***Papers and projects turned in late will be penalized one letter grade a day. Any turned in after the 4th day will only receive half of the points earned. Any regular homework turned in late automatically receives half credit. Students may still earn full credit by staying after school with Mrs. Gravelle to complete itduring the week it is due.
If a student is absent the day of a quiz or test, he or she is expected to take it on the day of return. If a student is absent two or more days, he or she has one day per day absent to turn in any assignments.
